David Smith is an academic at De Montfort University Leicester, where he has worked for the last several years. He has served as a programme leader in his area, and currently serves on the editorial board of two significant academic journals in his area of expertise. He serves on the advisory board of a major non-governmental organisation. He is deeply concerned at the current situation in UK higher education, particularly the impact that current cuts at DMU will have on educational opportunities in Leicester.
