My father was an artist. I did O level Art which was OK but I had a very precise art teacher. I didn’t go on to A Level as I was a Scientist first.
I restarted art when I Ieft my school. One Saturday a parent of a pupil of mine was in Rollright Village Hall when I was there by chance. He is a great artist and he told me to work on small postcards, tiny ink pens and watercolours.
I went to various fetes, groups and friends and offered people a painting of anything they would like. I have done almost a thousand framed pictures and sent any cash earned to charities. The most frequent beneficiary is Shipston Home Nursing, who I can usually give £100 per year. All my framed paintings cost £10.
I have painted in Rome, Cinque Terre, Paris, the Italian Lakes, Morocco, Russia, Spain, the UK and more.
Last year I did 120 Christmas cards.
