              The London rally and concert

The Europe day concert and rally will take place in London on 8 May with a host of VIP speakers including Mike Galsworthy, Louise Brown and AC Grayling. Both the rally and the concert will take place in St John’s Smith Square. Peter Benson, on behalf of the organisers, said:

“This is an awesome opportunity for music lovers to come together and socialise… It’s on a Sunday afternoon and the venue is directly opposite the office of the EU with great pubs and restaurants all nearby, it’s a perfect day out with the added attraction is the pre-concert rally with a stunning list of speakers confirmed”

              Peter Benson

There will be a rally starting at 1.30pm promptly so organisers advise people to arrive from 1pm. The location for the rally is outside the offices of the EU in Smith Square which is beside the venue. The rally is scheduled to last about 30 minutes giving people lots of time to get to their seats afterwards for the concert.

The Romano Viazzani Ensemble brings together seven outstanding musicians from the worlds of classical, jazz and Latin-American music to play and create tango and tango-inspired music. Based on the line up of Astor Piazzolla’s famous quintet they recreate music that ranges from Piazzolla’s own works to classic Argentine and European tango. They also arrange music in the style of tango and write their own original tango-inspired music with a twist of swinging London. Tenor Alessandro Fisher (BBC New Generation winner) and Jazz/West End stars Joanna Strand and Jaqcui Tate will be singing in the Romano Viazzani Ensemble.

Music fans from London and beyond are encouraged to bring along flags and wave them at the concert at St John’s, Smith Square London at 2.30pm on 8 May. A packet of sunflower seeds will be on everyone’s seat to show solidarity with Ukraine. Ambassadors and VIPs from the music industry and beyond are expected to be there.

Local Europe events in the Midlands

In Derbyshire there will be a Brexitometer event at St Peter’s Churchyard in the city centre between 11am and 1pm where people can answer questions about Brexit and its impact. Other events are expected by local European Movement groups across the region over the next few days and weeks.

More information about the Europe day rally and concert in London can be found HERE.
